Next generation of elite USA sailors

America One Racing, as the largest private financial supporter of elite USA sailors, pivoted in 2023 to a hands-on organization with coaches and training plans. Among their areas of focus is the Switch Class, a 13-foot foiling singlehander unveiled in March 2024. Here’s an update:

The 2026 Switch Global Championship, held October 8-11 on Lake Garda, delivered more than podium finishes for America One Racing (A1R) and American Magic ROCKWOOL Racing (SailGP team). The accomplishments also showcased a shared commitment to developing the next generation of world-class sailors by uniting talent and expertise from across the sport.

With podium finishes by Pearl Lattanzi (Bronze in Women’s division), Magnus Overbeck (Silver overall), and JP Lattanzi (Gold in 7.8 division), the squad demonstrated the strength of a unique environment combining Olympians, emerging youth sailors, A1R Academy athletes, and American Magic ROCKWOOL Racing team members.

The ongoing collaboration between A1R and American Magic ROCKWOOL Racing creates a pathway connecting youth development, Olympic competition, and professional sailing. By bringing together athletes and coaches from different backgrounds, the partnership accelerates learning and establishes the standards required to succeed at the highest levels.

“The podium finishes by Pearl and Magnus are a great testament to how the partnership between America One Racing and American Magic ROCKWOOL Racing is developing the future stars of our sport,” said James Lyne, American Magic ROCKWOOL Racing Head Coach.

“Together, we are building a strong foundation of skills, culture and excellence that will help young athletes make the transition to the Olympic Games and SailGP. Remember these names. They will headline our sport in the years to come.” – Read on
