Two divers have been rescued and taken to hospital following a major emergency response off the Dorset coast.
According to HM Coastguard, the incident unfolded shortly before 11:00 a.m. BST on Sunday after reports that two divers were in difficulty from a boat off Poole.
A large-scale rescue operation was launched involving HM Coastguard rescue teams from Poole and Selsey, a Coastguard rescue helicopter, Swanage RNLI Lifeboat, South Western Ambulance Service and an air ambulance.
The Coastguard helicopter located the divers in the water before directing lifeboat crews to their position, allowing both casualties to be recovered safely.
Both divers were transported to hospital for medical assessment. Authorities have not released details regarding their identities, the nature of their injuries, or the circumstances that led to the emergency.
Local Coastguard teams described the operation as a significant multi-agency response, with one casualty reported to have been experiencing a medical emergency during the incident.
At the time of publication, officials have not confirmed the dive site, the charter operator involved, or whether the incident occurred during recreational or technical diving activities.
No further information has been released regarding the condition of either diver, and it remains unclear whether an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
