From Soldier to Scuba Instructor

Meet Howard — a 20-year veteran, former prosecutor, and now an adaptive scuba instructor with Diveheart.

While checking items off his bucket list, Howard discovered scuba diving—and with it, a surprising sense of relief and calm he hadn’t expected. He immediately saw its potential for helping those living with PTSD.

On a trip to the pool, Howard discovered Diveheart and realized this was where he belonged. For more than 10 years, he has volunteered with Diveheart, sharing the transformative power of adaptive scuba with children, adults, and veterans of all abilities. Today, Howard continues his mission of service as a Diveheart adaptive scuba instructor—helping others find freedom, confidence, and peace beneath the surface.
