TEKAsia 2027 will bring technical divers, underwater explorers, researchers and industry specialists together in Singapore next April, with a three-day programme examining the technologies, techniques and discoveries shaping the future of diving.
Organised by OZTek and Asia Dive Expo (ADEX), the conference will take place from 9–11 April 2027 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, alongside the 33rd edition of ADEX Big Blue Legacy.
The event will combine expert presentations, specialist workshops and opportunities for the international diving community to exchange knowledge, while a dedicated underwater photography competition will showcase some of the challenging environments explored by technical divers.
Exploring the Future of Technical Diving
TEKAsia has established itself as a meeting point for divers working across a broad range of specialist disciplines, from deep wreck exploration and cave diving to underwater scientific research and the development of advanced diving equipment.
The 2027 conference will examine how improvements in diving technology, training and scientific understanding are expanding the possibilities for underwater exploration.
Among the subjects expected to feature are rebreather technology, equipment development, decompression procedures, diving physiology, underwater archaeology, commercial diving and diving safety.
These subjects extend beyond technical diving alone. Research into decompression, equipment reliability and human performance can also inform wider discussions about diver training, operational procedures and risk management.
According to the organisers’ TEKAsia 2027 announcement, the conference is intended to encourage the exchange of practical experience and technical knowledge between specialists from different diving backgrounds.
Bringing International Diving Expertise Together
The conference will provide a platform for explorers, researchers, instructors, equipment specialists and other experienced diving professionals to share their work with an international audience.
Technical diving events such as TEKAsia offer an opportunity to examine projects that rarely receive attention outside specialist diving circles, including deep shipwreck investigations, complex cave exploration, marine archaeological surveys and emerging equipment technologies.
The event also provides a forum for discussing the operational challenges behind these activities, including expedition planning, equipment selection, diver preparation and the management of risk.
Australian technical diver Mark Tozer is involved in convening the conference, while diving author and educator Simon Pridmore has confirmed that he will return to deliver presentations in 2027.
Further speaker announcements and detailed session information are expected as the event approaches.
A Conference Open to Recreational Divers
Although TEKAsia has a strong technical diving focus, the conference is not restricted to divers holding advanced technical qualifications.
Recreational divers, instructors, researchers and others interested in underwater exploration are also welcome.
For recreational divers considering additional training, the conference offers an opportunity to learn more about technical diving disciplines, advanced equipment and the research that underpins specialist diving practices.
The exchange of knowledge between recreational and technical diving communities is one of the event’s central objectives.
Underwater Photography Competition Adds a New Dimension
ADEX is also introducing the TEKAsia 2027 Underwater Photography Competition, recognising photography associated with technical diving and underwater exploration.
The competition includes three categories:
- Wreck: Underwater images featuring shipwrecks and other submerged wreckage, with particular emphasis on technical diving environments and composition.
- Cave: Photography captured in caves, caverns and other overhead environments.
- Marine Life with Diver: Images combining marine life and a diver as an important element of the composition.
Entries close on 1 December 2026, giving underwater photographers an opportunity to submit their work ahead of the April conference.
The overall winner will be hosted by ADEX to attend the 2027 Singapore event as a speaker, with flights and accommodation provided.
The winning photograph will also appear on the cover of a special TEKAsia edition of Asian Diver magazine.
The competition brings a visual storytelling element to the conference, highlighting environments and diving activities that are often difficult for the wider public to experience firsthand.
Photographers considering an entry should consult the official competition website for submission requirements and conditions.
TEKAsia as Part of ADEX Big Blue Legacy 2027
TEKAsia will take place alongside ADEX Big Blue Legacy 2027, the 33rd edition of the Singapore diving exhibition.
The wider event will bring together diving manufacturers, training organisations, travel operators, underwater photographers, conservation groups and members of the international ocean community.
ADEX 2027 has also announced a conservation focus dedicated to the dugong, alongside its broader programme of underwater photography, marine education, exhibitions and ocean-related activities.
The technical diving conference provides a specialist counterpart to the main exhibition, offering delegates the opportunity to explore subjects in greater depth while remaining connected to the wider diving industry.
TEKAsia will be located in Hall 406 and requires a separate conference ticket.
