Shark Trust’s new basking shark code of conduct

We’re in the time of year when basking sharks are

We’re in the time of year when basking sharks are most likely to be spotted off the western coast of the UK and Ireland.

Basking sharks often referred to as ‘gentle giants’ but they are large and powerful creatures and if you annoy them, or you they don’t feel like being disturbed right now, a swish of its tail would be like getting hit by a tree trunk.

Check out the Shark Trust’s new Basking Shark: Code of Conduct video here – and don’t forget to like and subscribe to the charity’s YouTube Channel for more.

You can also record and report any basking shark sightings you have through the Shark Trust’s citzen science app, available for Android and apple devices – and don’t forget the Great Shark Snapshot citizen scientist initiative this coming July!
