Rocky The Snake in Sarnia, Ontario, Eh!
From June 2, 2025 Update
Rocky the Rock Snake in Point Edward, Ontario is a vibrant community art project aiming for a world record. Thousands of colourful, hand-painted rocks of all shapes and sizes make up Rocky—and everyone is welcome to add their own. I visited in May 2025 and contributed several painted rocks from Calgary, along with our ehcanadatravel.com rock created by my daughter in Sarnia.
Remember: please add rocks only—don’t take any.
Strolling along the St. Clair River while admiring Rocky’s full length is a beautiful experience, so paint up your rock and make Rocky the Rock Snake a must-visit destination. Let’s help Rocky reach that world record! Quoted from You Tube Video
Wendy Marsden, a retiree from Sarnia, and her partner set out 13 hand-painted stones along with a handwritten sign beside the sidewalk overlooking the St. Clair River at Rotary Flag Plaza near the Blue Water Bridge in mid-June 2023. Since then, the small display that started with just a handful of rocks has steadily expanded.

A recent Facebook post shared that by November 2025 the collection had grown to 102 painted rocks. Wendy had hoped the display might one day reach 100, and the new total shows her goal has already been surpassed.
Some rocks are artistic impressions, messages and even a proposal.
