The Diving Equipment & Marketing Association (DEMA) has officially begun its search for a new President and CEO, marking the start of a major leadership transition within the global diving industry. The announcement follows news of Tom Ingram’s upcoming retirement at the end of 2025, which The Scuba News reported earlier this month.
Ingram has served as DEMA’s President and CEO for more than two decades, overseeing a period of significant transformation and growth. During his tenure, DEMA evolved from being primarily a trade show organiser into a driving force behind industry advocacy, research, and global marketing efforts designed to support dive businesses and professionals worldwide.
The DEMA Board of Directors has now formed a dedicated Search Committee to identify the next leader who will guide the association into a new era. Applications are being accepted until November 24, 2025, with the successful candidate expected to assume the role in early 2026.
According to DEMA, the ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience within the diving, watersports, or adventure travel sectors, along with a strong understanding of trade associations, government relations, business research, and large-scale event management.
Ingram is expected to remain active in his role through the 2025 DEMA Show in Orlando to ensure a smooth transition. The event will serve as a fitting milestone in a career that has profoundly influenced the modern dive industry.
Further updates on the recruitment process and Ingram’s succession are expected to follow in the coming months.
