Conditions from light to heavy air greeted 42 Lightnings at the 2022 Lightning North American Championship hosted by Sayville Yacht Club on September 16-18 in Blue Point, NY. David Starck with crew Debbie Probst and Jenna Probst in Team Patstrong sailed a consistent series to win the Championship.
Also, as Starck sailed in the Pan Am Games configuration of one male and two females, they qualified the US for the Pan American Games in 2023 in Chile. Team Ecuador also qualified for the Pan Am Games at the event.
Finishing second in the Championship was Tom Starck with crew Ryan Davidson and Christine Maloney, and in third was Parker Colontuano with Aiden Naughton and Jack Carminati.
