A study conducted by Midwestern University in partnership with Diveheart has explored the potential benefits of scuba therapy for people on the autism spectrum. The research examined how the underwater environment, with reduced visual and auditory distractions and the unique sensory experience of moving in near-zero gravity, may provide a calming and positive experience for autistic participants. The work forms part of Diveheart’s long-running efforts to investigate how adaptive scuba and scuba therapy can support people with disabilities, and has helped draw attention to the potential therapeutic and social benefits of diving.
