EYEWITNESS: Daredevil Jumped into Horseshoe Falls Basin on Sunday, June 28, 2026

An eyewitness account has emerged regarding the shocking footage below Horseshoe Falls, confirming the incident took place on the afternoon of Sunday, June 28, 2026. According to the onlooker, they were present at the scene and watched the individual actively jump into the treacherous, restricted waters.

Park officials and police have reiterated that stunts of this nature carry extreme legal consequences. The individual now faces a maximum $10,000 fine and significant jail time under the Niagara Parks Act and criminal mischief laws for endangering both their own life and the lives of first responders.

On Tuesday, the Canadian Niagara Parks Police Service verified the authenticity of the video circulating on social media platforms; however, the department withheld any updates.

In response to press inquiries, the Canadian Niagara Parks Police Service confirmed that emergency personnel were called to the scene on Sunday, June 28, around 4:30 p.m. to handle an incident involving an individual in mental health distress. To protect the privacy and preserve the dignity of the person involved, law enforcement stated that they will not be releasing any additional information at this time.

Why Authorities Crack Down So Hard

Beyond the obvious risk of death, stunts like these force local emergency teams—including the Niagara Parks Police, local fire departments, and high-angle river rescue squads—to put their own lives on the line in a highly volatile environment.

Because the Niagara River currents beneath Horseshoe Falls move at speeds up to 40 km/h and feature violent undertows, anyone who jumps in is incredibly lucky to even be alive to face those fines and jail time.

Horseshoe Falls

As the largest and most powerful of the three cascades that comprise Niagara Falls, Horseshoe Falls straddles the international border between Canada and the United States along the Niagara River. Structurally, it curves between Table Rock on the Ontario, Canada side and Terrapin Point on Goat Island, which belongs to New York State. Because the vast majority of its crestline sits in Canadian territory, it is frequently called the Canadian Falls.
