Italian Scuba Diver in Serious Condition Following Dive Off Comino, Malta

A 51-year-old Italian scuba diver was taken to hospital after reportedly encountering difficulties during a dive off Comino on Saturday.

A 51-year-old Italian scuba diver is in a serious condition after encountering difficulties while diving off the Maltese island of Comino.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 22, with the Malta Police Force confirming that the diver was brought to Mġarr Harbour on the neighbouring island of Gozo at around 1:00pm.

Assistance was requested after the diver arrived at the harbour unconscious.

An ambulance transported him to Gozo General Hospital, where he was reported to be in a serious condition.

Magisterial Inquiry Opened

Magistrate Dr Monica Vella was informed of the incident and appointed a magisterial inquiry.

Police investigations remain ongoing.

Authorities have not, at the time of publication, released further information about what caused the diver to encounter difficulties, the dive site involved or the circumstances leading to him becoming unconscious.
