Shark Photographer of the Year celebrates the diversity, beauty and importance of sharks, skates, rays & chimaera by inviting photographers to showcase these animals through their imagery.
This year’s winners will be revealed during the Shark Trust’s flagship event, For the Love of Sharks, taking place at the Royal Geographical Society in London this November.
From 1 July to 31 August 2026, photographers are invited to enter up to three images for the chance to win the title of Shark Photographer of the Year. There are no set categories, just enter three great pictures and the Shark Trust will take it from there.
The overall winner will be the photographer who submits the best portfolio of three images into the competition. Individual images will also be considered for the British Isles and Overseas categories (as applicable).
Images that strongly reflect the work of the Shark Trust’s programmes may also be recognised.
The winner of Shark Photographer of the Year 2026 will receive an incredible shark diving trip to South Africa, with economy return flights provided by Diverse Travel, and accommodation and diving from Agulhas House & Diving. Worth over £1600. Perfect for diving iconic sites such as Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks (terms & conditions apply).
Category Winner prizes include a Mares Sirius Computer, an Apeks XTX50 stage 3 regulator set, and an Explorer120 bag from Aqualung.
The finalists will be selected by a panel of judges which this year includes Charles Hood, Nick Robertson-Brown, and Simon Rogerson.
The images will be displayed at For the Love of Sharks, where the winners will be announced live on the evening of 27 November.
