To promote international goodwill

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary of independence. To honor the occasion, Yacht Club de Monaco is sending over their flagship Tuiga and the highly decorated classic yacht Viola for the Sail4th 250 International Parade of Tall Ships to be held in New York Harbor.

To welcome these yachts and memorialize this once‑in‑a‑lifetime visit, the Monaco Challenge Cup will be held June 26-28 on the harbor. The purpose of this event is to promote international goodwill through friendly competition, and will be a race among yacht clubs, not individuals.

Up to 20 US yacht clubs are invited to be participate. Each club will be represented by one boat, with the event open to traditional displacement keelboats – no multihulls or flying boats. For clubs not located near NY Harbor, there may be boats available to charter. A comprehensive social schedule is also planned.
