Sherry claims 14th DN North Americans

Ninety-one sailors competed in the 2019 DN North American Championship held February 21-22 at Lake Wawasee in Indiana. Ron Sherry (USA) defended his 2018 title after beating 2019 World Champion Michal Burczynski (POL) by seven points, giving Sherry his 14th North American victory.

Sherry (above) previously won the North Americans in 1989, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2009,
2010, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018.

The event was moved to Lake Wawasee from Lima, Ohio following the 2019 DN World Championship due to heavy, wet snow covering the ice on Indian Lake. On Wawasee, the frozen rain melted the snow on top of the ice, which then refroze, creating an ideal course.
