On August 31, two Taiwanese men in their twenties were found unresponsive during a diving trip off the coast of Okinawa, Japan.
The incident was reported to the Nago Coast Guard at around 3:00 PM when the divers did not resurface near Manza Beach in Onna Village. A search was launched, and both men were located approximately two and a half hours later inside an underwater cave at a depth of about 30 meters. They were transported to a hospital, where they were confirmed deceased.
According to local media reports, one of the men was a diving instructor living in Okinawa, while the other had traveled from Taiwan for the dive. The search operation was coordinated by the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters after being alerted by the dive boat captain.
Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
