Emergency crews are currently searching the waters near Bluffer’s Beach in Scarborough for a man in his 20s who went missing while on a jet ski. (August 25, 2025) According to Toronto Police Duty Inspector Lhawang Jongdong, authorities were called to the scene around 9:15 p.m. Sunday following reports of a marine incident. A man and a woman had fallen off a rented jet ski. It is believed they went overboard after the jet ski hit a wave. Inspector Jongdong explained that neither individual was a strong swimmer, and the man — who had been operating the jet ski — gave his life-jacket to the woman. The female rider was able to get back on the Jet Ski and return to shore with the help of another Jet Skier.
In the late afternoon of August 25, some residents near the Lake Ontario shoreline in Ajax may have noticed military aircraft flying overhead. The plane was deployed from Trenton and conducted a search operation over Ajax and nearby areas on Monday as part of efforts to locate the missing individual.
Emergency crews have been searching for the missing rider since Sunday night. While the family continues to hold on to hope, the chances of finding him alive are considered slim.
