A juvenile diver has died after going missing during a recreational dive near Alligator Point, Florida, following a large-scale search involving multiple emergency agencies.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the incident occurred on Friday, July 3, when a father and his juvenile son entered the water to dive near Alligator Point. During the dive, the juvenile failed to resurface, prompting an immediate search.
FWC officers coordinated a multi-agency response with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Search teams continued operations throughout the day before recovering the diver’s body at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
Authorities have not released the identity of the juvenile diver, and no details have been provided regarding the type of diving being undertaken or the circumstances that led to the incident.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
