Will the Real Housewives raise your hand

Rhode Island is the smallest state in the United States, and while Newport is not among the ten most populated cities in the state, it is where the tourists go. It’s where sailors go for epic racing and shoreside frivolity, and also home to significant wealth. The Gilded Age mansions are no joke.

So perhaps this is also where The Real Housewives of Rhode Island will be going too. If you are not familiar with this reality television franchise, consider yourself lucky, but it has endured for nearly two decades, showcasing a group of affluent women that reside in a certain city or geopolitical region.

The Bravo TV network announced on May 7 that Rhode Island will be joining its lineup, though coy about exactly where. Previous show titles are typically more specific, but with the size of Little Rhody, how can it not get to Newport?

“Set against the shores of the Ocean State, ‘The Real Housewives’ franchise expands into the world of a tight-knit circle of Rhode Islanders who have deep community roots and families that go back generations,” according to the official announcement. “With aspirational lives, thriving businesses and tangled family dynamics, these decade-long friendships prove that in a state this small, there’s no escaping your past … or each other.”
