To Finish First, Episode 2: At the helm

To Finish First lifts the lid on life at Alex Thomson Racing, one of the world’s most formidable sailing teams. In Episode 2, members of the team discuss ‘Alex’ and the many roles that he takes on – from Skipper and team leader, to friend and mentor.

The team’s ultimate goal is to win the Vendée Globe 2020-21, the ultimate solo non-stop round the world race in the IMOCA 60. However, after christening their new boat in September 2019, Alex Thomson and co-skipper Neal McDonald had to cut the keel off after damage forced them to withdraw November 3 from the 4350nm Transat Jacque Vabre.

Now the team must get back on track to achieve its goal.
