Swiss Diver Dies Following Incident in Lake Thun

A 69-year-old diver has died following a diving incident near Gunten in Lake Thun on Wednesday evening, according to a report from Bluenews.

Preliminary information indicates that the man was diving with a partner when he encountered difficulties underwater for reasons that remain unclear. The diver’s buddy and other nearby individuals managed to pull him from the water and began administering first aid at the scene.

Tragically, despite their efforts, the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the site. Authorities confirmed he was a Swiss citizen from the canton of Bern.

An investigation into the cause of the incident is now underway, led by the Oberland regional public prosecutor’s office in cooperation with the Bern cantonal police.
