The expansion of the SailGP league continues as Sweden has been named as the 13th entrant, with the internationally acclaimed sailing team Artemis Racing to join for the 2026 season.
Under the leadership of CEO Iain Percy, an Olympic gold medalist who previously served as Artemis Racing’s Team Manager during their America’s Cup campaigns, the team is well-positioned to build on past successes for SailGP’s sixth season, which begins in January 2026 in Perth, Australia.
Backed by Torbjörn Törnqvist, Artemis SailGP Team has appointed Nathan Outteridge as driver. The Olympic gold medalist previously had been helm for the Japan SailGP Team in Seasons 1 and 2, alongside interim roles (on the water and on-shore) for other teams. Outteride was also the America’s Cup helm for Artemis Racing in 2013 and 2017.
“Reuniting with Iain, Torbjörn and the Artemis team for this new chapter in SailGP is incredibly exciting,” Outteridge said. “We’ve shared huge moments together in the past, and bringing that experience, trust and energy into this arena gives us a powerful foundation.
“This is a new challenge for all of us – a chance to showcase what Swedish sailing can achieve in one of the toughest and fastest stages in the world. We’re approaching this season with focus, ambition and the belief that we can set the standard for what’s possible in this championship.”
Artemis SailGP Team’s full crew will be announced in the coming weeks.
The league previously confirmed that Team 14 will hit the water in 2027, and will have SailGP’s newest F50 – once complete – at a training base designed to give both new and existing teams an opportunity to sharpen their skills.
“I think that’s going to make a big difference to the league going forward,” said SailGP CEO Russell Coutts. “It’s a fantastic solution for new and existing teams to train their athletes.”
