The Shark Trust has launched a new photography competition designed to celebrate the diversity and beauty of sharks, rays and skates, with photographs of egg cases and rarely-spotted chimaeras also welcome.
From now until 15 May 2025, photographers can enter up to four images into the Shark Trust’s competition. There are no specific categories in terms of style or technique; instead there will be an overall champion, plus winners selected for the best photograph from the British Isles and best from Overseas.
Winners will also be selected for the Best Eggcase, Young Shark Photographer for under-18s, and entries relating to the Shark Trust’s programmes: Mediterranean, Living with Sharks, and Oceanics.

A host of great prizes are up for grabs, including a Shark Dive & Stay package for two in Nassau, Bahamas with accommodation at Breezes and diving with Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas courtesy of Diverse Travel and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (flights to Nassau not included).
Other prizes include two Mares Quad 2 computers, a Scapa Joe Beach Trash Shark Sculpture, Shark Trust Teemill merchandise and more.
The finalists will be selected by a panel of judges, which this year includes Charles Hood, Nick Robertson-Brown, and Simon Rogerson, before being printed by Astralis Print and Design and put on display at Ocean Studios at Royal William Yard, Plymouth.

The judges’ choices will be displayed for the entirety of Shark Month this July. Members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite images from the finalists on display and the overall winners will be announced at the end of the month.
To enter, submit your best images of sharks, rays, skates, chimaeras or eggcases on the Shark Trust Website before 15 May 2025.
