Scuba Diver, 70, Dies at Jack Creek Recreation Area in Arkansas

Local sources report that a 70-year-old man died while scuba

Local sources report that a 70-year-old man died while scuba diving at the Jack Creek Recreation Area near Booneville, Arkansas.

The incident occurred in shallow water, estimated at around seven to eight feet deep, where the man had been using scuba equipment along with a weighted vest and a metal detector. According to reports, the diver surfaced, removed his mask and breathing apparatus, appeared to be in distress, and then went underwater without resurfacing.

Emergency services from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, local fire departments, and EMS personnel responded to the scene. The man’s body was later recovered underwater.

Jack Creek Recreation Area is located within the Ouachita National Forest. The site, originally developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, is a popular spot for outdoor recreation, including swimming and hiking.
