Saturday Night’s alright for cruising

The Centerport Yacht Club (Centerport, NY) wants more of their “weekend warrior” members to get off moorings and join the fleet on the Club’s monthly overnight cruises. Their plan? Sing a song.

The CYC Cruising Committee went into the studio to record a parody song, ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Cruising’ (a takeoff on Elton John’s 1973 hit ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’), and is expected to soon be heard at raft-ups across Long Island Sound.

Created by member and Cruising Co-Chair Amy Jane Finnerty (whose previous hits include the holiday classics ‘Santa Baby (I Want A Yacht)‘ and ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside (The Frostbiting Song)‘, it features lead vocals by one of the club’s own yacht rock stars, “Fleet Captain Fantastic” Phil Udvadia.
