Cochin, Saskatchewan

Cochin is a resort village located in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. As of the 2016 census, it had a population of 148 residents.

Before the village was established, French traders called the area around present-day Cochin les Détroits. The community was later founded as a Christian mission by Father Louis Cochin, a missionary from France who was part of the Oblate Order. Cochin officially became a resort village on January 1, 1988.

Cochin is a resort village situated 36 kilometers north of North Battleford along Highway 4, positioned on the eastern shore of Jackfish Lake. It is part of a cluster of resort communities that surround both Jackfish Lake and nearby Murray Lake. The village is also located near the reserve lands of the Moosomin and Saulteaux First Nations and is close to The Battlefords Provincial Park. Today, Cochin occupies a spot nestled between Jackfish and Murray lakes.
