Launched in 1969, the Laser continues to be the benchmark for all one design singlehanded dinghies. Its inclusion in the Olympic Games began with the Open One Person Dinghy Event for Atlanta 1996, then switching to a Men’s Event for Quindao 2008 when the Laser Radial was chosen for the new Women’s Men’s One Person Dinghy Event. The boat will continue as the Equipment for these two Events at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
