Newport Harbor wins Palmer Trophy

Ten yacht club teams across the USA and Sweden competed for the Palmer Trophy at the Grandmasters Team Race event, hosted by Newport Harbor Yacht Club on April 14-16 in Newport Beach, CA. The home team topped the double round robin qualifying stage, then moved past Southern Yacht Club 3-1 in the Semifinals to face San Diego Yacht Club which beat them in the Finals a year ago. The rematch went the distance with NHYC – represented by Philip Thompson, Jamie Hardenbergh, Bill Menninger, Bob McDonald, Chris Raab, and Buddy Richley – winning the fifth and final match to claim the title. – Details
