Two baby dolphins that washed up at Cefani Beach on Wednesday
Kevin Cole

The carcasses of two baby dolphins that washed up at Cefani Beach on the Wild Coast near East London this week, will be sent to Bayworld in Gqebera for further research.

They were discovered on Wednesday with huge shark bites.

Kevin Cole, a natural scientist at the East London museum, says shark predation is evident in this incident and they’ve been visible along the Wild Coast.
He says attacking baby dolphins is not something unusual.

Cole says dolphins can usually defend themselves against sharks but if there is a “feeding frenzy” or a competition for a food source all types of shark species will migrate to the coast to follow sardines that migrate between the Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal Coast.
